Lake Bled is a glacial lake in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia, and is located in the eponymous municipality of Bled. It is only 55 km from Ljubljana. The lake is 2,120 m long, 1,380 m wide with a maximum depth of 30.6 m. It is surrounded by mountains and forests, and on its northern coast is the medieval castle. In the middle of the lake is the island of Bled, only natural island in Slovenia, and on it a number of buildings, most notably the Church of the Assumption of Mary, built in the 15th century.
