Before Sutomore had the name of Spizza and was a part of the Venetian Republic (from the 15th till the 18th centuries). Apart from the beaches Sutomore offers several historical places of interest: The remains of the medieval town Nehaj built in the fifteenth century. It is located at a distance of about 10 km northwest of Bar and Sutomore the inaccessible hill overlooking the sea at an altitude of 225 m. The city is very inaccessible on all sides except the west, where is located an entrance. It was first mentioned 1542nd year, built by the Venetians. In the town is the Church of St.. Demetrius from XIII century with two altars (Orthodox and Catholic) church is older than the fort. Fortress "Tabija" at Golo Brdo was built in 1862. Along with many other buildings in the territory Sutomore, and it testifies to the rich history of this region. The fort is now in very poor condition, neglected and inaccessible to tourists. The building is built in the XIII century, of quarry stone.
