Village of Rudno is the tiny picturesque village and the natural beauty-spot of Central Serbia, located at the altitude of 1100 meters, on the gentle slopes of 15km- long Radocelo Mountain. Rudno village along the plateau on which it is located, overviewes the wild and gorgeous Golija Mountain peaks that reach more than 1800 meters. Many consider the area of Rudno village and its surroundings the most beautiful mountainous part of Serbia. Rudno village is located within the Golija - Studenica Biosphere Reserve, featuring magnificent panorama on surrounding Kopaonik and Golija Mountains, numerous crystal-clear streams and rivers rich in mountainous trout and river crabs. Climate of Golija Mountain is extremely suitable for healing blood diseases (anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hematological malignancies) and chronical respiratory diseases (asthma, bronchitis, emphysema).
The Rudno village area represents typical mountainous region with tiny villages consisting of few households, scattered along the vast meadows and intact nature, with small number of inhabitants. Having “five” seasons during the year, the Rudno village and the centrally located mountainous area of Serbia which surrounds it, makes one of the most beautiful Serbian regions. The Rudno village consists of a numbers of hamlets separated on relatively long distances. Rudno village is 16 km away from the closest urban places, Usce and from Kraljevo you can reach it via village of Tepec after some 66 km, while it is located just between Studenica and Gradac Monasteries.
The people from Rudno and surrounding villages are traditionally dependent of business connected by forest and forestry and, thanks to the abundance of water and untouched natural resources, have long tradition in agriculture, especially in the cattle breeding. The river of Vrevina flows through the Rudno village collecting the streams from Radocelo Mountain that attract visitors fond of fishing and nature exploration. The ancient road from the times of Nemanjic’s Dynasty, has been recently rebuilt and connects the surrounding villages with the Serbian main cultural highlights – Gradac and Studenica Monasteries which makes Rudno village actually situated between them. There is the bakery and milk processing industry in Rudno village, with capacities for fat-cheese exclusive genuine production with addition of rare medicinal herbs and forest fruits abundantly grown here. During past times the traditional songs and dances have been performed in almost every household of Rudno village, but nowadays only the dog barking and cat purr disturb the tranquil and astonishing eye-shot atmosphere.
This Godlike village featuring unique conditions for tourism is famous for its organic home-made products, such are cheese, kaymak, buckwheat pie, fresh tomato salad, smoked ham, baked lamb with potatoes .... that completes the joy of every visitor. A special delight is a walk through thick forests to the nearby Katava, Crkvine, Divan, Nikoljaca, Krivaca mountain peaks or every day routing, such is making haystacks - what always specially pleases Rudno guests in summer. The log-cabin Eagle’s nest is situated in the picturesque village Rudno (1.200m above sea level) on Golija mountain. The highest peaks of Golija are Jankov kamen (1.833m), Crni vrh (1.798m) and Radocelo (1.625m). Village Rudno is situated between Studenica monastery (14 km) and Gradac monastery (5km). You can reach Rudno by Ibarska highway from Kraljevo, Usce and Baljevac to Brvenik, where you need to take a right turn and drive 26km further to reach your destination. On the way to the mountain, there is famous Jorgovan valley and dominant medieval fortress Maglic that simply invites you to make a short break. The construction of two monasteries at the hillsides of Golija points to the fact that this area was an important center for medieval Serbian rulers. Even today, when local residents cultivate land, they are find objects and coins that show the importance of this area back in the Roman’s times. In the second half of the 19th century, back in 1856, famous nature scientist Josif Pancic came for the first time to Golija. In his documents, We can see how he was excited with natural resources of this area. Rose of the winds that overtakes Golija, immense and thick forests, a lot of medicinal herbs, eatable mushrooms, blueberries, strawberries, streams full of trout, the production of healthy food and lots of sunny days during the year represent the basic characteristics of the region. Golija is one of the rare mountains in Europe where you can find wolves, bears, wild boars, wild cats, martens, eagles, falcons, eared owls and various kinds of songbirds.
What makes Rudno interesting is 14th century Nikoljaca church, restored small Saint Trojica church, beautiful and clear river, Brevina a center for camping and education, a 36 kilometers long Path of Health with ethno-log cabins on the way, canyon Kace which makes this area attractive and challenging. The log-cabin Eagle’s nest is set in the rock, above the village, at a very good location for sightseeing. It is made exclusively out of natural material, wooden blocks and rocks. Kopaonik, Crni vrh, Jankov kamen and immense forests and meadows can be seen from several terraces. The most important events in Rudno are Traditional Christmas Eve in St. Trinity church, Fox hunting (March), wolf hunting (March), days of lilac in Gradac monastery (May), Scout’s camp in Brevina (July), Traditional festival in Rudno (July), Flowery fields of Europe (August), Traditional festival in Radocelo (august), Festival of potato (Sempteber) and Traditional festival in monastery Studenica (September).After all, the most important date is when you decide to visit Golija and see all this for yourself. Golija is biosphere park under protection of state and UNESCO, as natural resort of special significance. Rudno can be reached by Ibarska magistrala through Kraljevo, Ušće and Baljevac to Brvenik where you turn left after 26 km and reach your destination. On that way there is a famous valley of lilacs and fortress Maglič whose beauty invites you to make a short break. There is varied fauna on Golija. It is one of the rare mountains in Europe that is the habitat of wolves, bears, wild boars, deer, wild cat, marten, eagles, falcons, and many birds. The Log cabin Orlovo is dug into the rock above the village and it dominates with its location. It was made of natural materials, wooden planks and stone. Some of the terraces have a view of Kopaonik, Crni Vrh, Jankov kamen and endless pastures, meadows and woods. Located close to the confluence of the Ibar River and Zapadna (Western) Morava, Kraljevo is 174 km from Belgrad.
